Level 10 Construction Completes Renovation Of Florence Moore Hall At Stanford University
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STANFORD, CA—(December 19, 2013)—Level 10 Construction announced today that it has completed a 39,688 square foot renovation of student housing at Florence Moore Hall at Stanford University, including extensive upgrades to the Hall’s seven connected dormitories.
Stanford University’s Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) worked with Level 10 Construction on the $15 million design build project. Level 10 fast-tracked the project over 12 weeks by running two shifts a day, seven days a week, beginning in mid-June. Project Architect is DES Architects + Engineers.
Florence Moore Hall, located on Mayfield Avenue and originally constructed in 1956, accommodates hundreds of students in seven dormitories, each with three floors totaling nearly 120,000 square feet. The renovation includes a new kitchen and servery area for the dormitories; upgrades to 54 restrooms; updates to students lounges; and enhancements to apartments for residential fellows.
“Level 10 is delighted to complete this project for Stanford University within a very aggressive schedule,” said Dennis Giles, CEO of Level 10. “We contracted with multiple subcontractors on individual scopes of work to ensure that manpower was in place to meet the schedule. Our use of iPads® on site, along with the implementation of PlanGrid and shared file sites enabled us to quickly distribute documents, drafts and details in the field.”
Senior Project Manager Bryce Wend said that Level 10 demolished and renovated almost 11,000 square feet of kitchen and servery space to make it more efficient and contemporary. Within the new kitchen and servery, Level 10 installed over 200 pieces of new food service equipment, completed new electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, and added a new fire alarm system and a new roof.
Level 10 gutted and renovated all existing 54 restrooms and shower rooms within the seven dormitories. It self-performed rough carpentry and wood framing upgrades to control work flow and maintain the compressed schedule. Other selective remodel and housing upgrades were performed, including painting, carpeting, heating and installation of fire alarm systems. Upgrades to student lounges included new furnishings, fixtures and finishes as well as the installation of smart boards and overhead projectors.
Level 10 Construction is also working on a number of other projects at Stanford University, including the Xia and Schleier-Smith Laboratory renovations and a renovation of 425 Broadway for the Stanford University Libraries.
